This role will assist Beam in advancing the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) production platform by supporting our in vitro and in vivo efforts to develop next-generation base editing technologies. The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated, technically competent research associate that is energized to join a small, fast-moving team.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Execution of validated molecular biology assays including nucleic acid isolation, library preparation, and next generation sequencing
- Communicate effectively with NGS Core team to strategically prioritize sample processing
- Ensure uncompromised data quality through detailed documentation and attention to detail
- Oversee NGS instrument troubleshooting and preventative maintenance
- Writing and following Standard Operating Procedures for production laboratory processes
Qualifications:
- BS in molecular or cellular biology with 2+ years laboratory experience
- The ideal candidate will have strong attention to detail and will be comfortable working with samples in a high throughput manner
- Next generation sequencing (NGS) experience is highly desired
- Experience with various Illumina sequencing platforms (i.e. miSEQ/NextSeq)
- Technical understanding of common molecular biology techniques (i.e. PCR, DNA/RNA isolation, NGS library prep, etc.)
- Experience with laboratory automation and liquid handlers
- Experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS), particularly Benchling
- Experience in a HTS or NGS Core facility is desired
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
