The Formulation Development group at Beam is seeking several highly motivated scientists to join the team. These Research Associates will play a key role in developing potent and safe non-viral delivery systems to enable in vivo gene-editing. The ideal candidates will have experience in designing, screening, manufacturing, and/or analytical characterization of nanoparticle drug delivery systems for nucleic acid or protein drugs.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Follow protocols to prepare lipid nanoparticles with defined compositions
  • Perform characterization assays including particle size, surface property, RNA encapsulation, RNA integrity, et al
  • Perform in vitro assays to assess transfection efficiency and cell viability
  • Provide formulation support to internal and external collaborations including animal studies
  • Conduct stability studies
  • Communicate with supervisor and team members on ongoing experiments
  • Document results in lab notebook



  • BS/MS degree in Chemistry or Biology or related discipline, with 2-5 years research experience, preferably in an industrial setting
  • Hands-on experience with DLS, NTA, HPLC, CE, DSC, EM, et al
  • Hands on experience with tissue culture
  • Previous experience with lipid nanoparticles / nucleic acids is highly desirable
