Scientist/Senior Scientist, Computational Biology

We are seeking an innovative, collaborative and accomplished computational scientist to support the development of novel gene editing therapies using our next-generation, state-of-the-art technology. The individual in this position will play a key role in developing Beam’s computational biology tools and infrastructure and will work closely with experimental scientists to support therapeutic programs and other research activities.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop computational pipelines to analyze data from novel and existing next-generation sequencing (NGS) assays for the assessment of on-target and potential off-target gene editing events
  • Analyze complex biological datasets by deploying statistical methods and visualization tools to draw conclusions
  • Work closely with program teams and provide computational support for target identification, guide RNA design, and follow-up data analysis such as targeted genome sequencing and RNA sequencing
  • Create and implement computational tools to support gene editing and other research activities, including the development of web tools to facilitate data interpretation and sharing
  • Communicate scientifically rigorous findings via verbal and written communications, visualizations, and presentations


  • A Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Statistics, or equivalent field
  • Industry experience is preferred
  • Strong scientific background and publication record in computational biology
  • Knowledge of relevant programming languages, such as Python, R, and/or Java
  • Familiarity with common bioinformatics tools for NGS data analysis
  • Ability to work independently while also building relationships with colleagues
