Beam is seeking a self-motivated student scientist with a strong background in Cellular and Molecular Biology and/or Biochemistry to work in the Liver team from January through June of 2023. The candidate will help support to and implement our current investigational work in developing base editing approach for treating liver diseases with a focus on Hepatitis B. You will have opportunities to develop biology research skills, participate in scientific discussions and project meetings, and be exposed to all aspects of the cross-functional early-stage drug discovery process. 


  • Mammalian cell culture, including primary hepatocytes; maintenance and execution, under guidance, of the cell-based assays
  • Viral work with Hepatitis B cell models and mouse tissue samples (BSL2+) 
  • Execution of the cell and molecular biology assays: ELISA, DNA/RNA harvesting/manipulation (from cells and tissues), qPCR 
  • Maintain accurate documentation of experiments in electronic lab notebook 
  • Data processing, analysis and visualization with common tools, such as Excel and GraphPad Prism


  • Training in cell culture and key cell/molecular biology techniques required
  • Courses in molecular and cell biology/biochemistry are preferred
  • Prior laboratory experience in industry or an academic setting is preferred 
  • Familiarity and understanding molecular virology of Hepatitis B virus is a plus
  • Excellent communication skills
