Beam is seeking a highly motivated co-op student to join the Biotherapeutics Discovery Team from July through December 2025. The individual will be responsible for screening, characterizing, and optimizing therapeutic antibodies using cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry techniques to support biotherapeutic drug discovery programs at Beam. The position will play a key role in advancing new programs from discovery toward the clinic in a highly collaborative and fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Identify and characterize lead antibodies using a panel of affinity and activity assays, like ELISA, FACS, Octet, and epitope binning.
- Establish and perform functional cell-based assays utilizing mammalian cell culture.
- Small/large scale protein production including transfection, purification and QC.
- Maintain detailed documentation of experiments in the ELN system.
- Collaborate and communicate effectively across a multidisciplinary team.
Qualifications:
- Pursuing a BS or MS in biological sciences or a related field (Bioengineering, Biochemistry/Biophysics, Cell Biology/Molecular Biology) with at least 1 year of relevant laboratory experience.
- Knowledge of biochemical & molecular biology methods used in drug discovery and development.
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and data analysis.
- Experience maintaining a lab notebook and following written protocols.
- Motivated to learn and detail oriented with excellent organizational and communication skills.
