Position Overview: 

Beam is seeking a highly motivated student to join a dynamic team from July through December 2026. The Beam MS&T team provides technical expertise for the tech transfer and GMP production of ex vivo and in vivo gene therapies at the RTP manufacturing facility. The MS&T team applies a deep understanding of science and engineering principles to translate processes from development to GMP manufacturing and ensure process control throughout the product lifecycle. The team is accountable for process tech transfer, optimization, troubleshooting, and process-related deviations and investigations. The MS&T co-op will gain real world experience in leading/supporting technical projects in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment.  

Responsibilities: 

Under the guidance of their mentor, the MS&T co-op will support the following: 

  • Develop a project plan, define objectives and desired outcomes, engage and collaborate with cross-functional partners and stakeholders, and meet timelines.
  • Tech transfer of next generation autologous cell therapy process.
  • Implement process and data framework for process informatics software to monitor manufacturing performance.
  • Design and execute studies with new aseptic, single-use technologies to evaluate suitability of implementation. 

Qualifications: 

  • Candidate must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, or related field.
  • Must be entering their third or fourth year (Bachelor’s) or currently pursuing a Master’s degree.
  • Prior industry internship in the biotech industry is preferred.
  • The candidate should have a solid academic foundation in engineering, science, and mathematics coursework (examples: biology/chemistry/biochemistry, engineering principles, biochemical/bioengineering, molecular biology, etc.).
  • Note that this role will function within a hybrid (partially remote, partially onsite) working environment and requires a self-motivated individual. 

Hourly pay will will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to, relevant experience, skills, and education.

Co-op Hourly Pay Range
$23$34 USD
