Company Overview
Beam Therapeutics is developing precision genetic medicines through the use of base editing. Beam’s proprietary base editors create precise, predictable and efficient single base changes, at targeted genomic sequences, without making double-stranded breaks in the DNA. This enables a wide range of potential therapeutic editing strategies that Beam is using to advance a diversified portfolio of base editing programs. Beam is a values-driven organization committed to its people, cutting-edge science, and a vision of providing life-long cures to patients suffering from serious diseases.
The Beam Team Is:
- A community of fearless innovators
- Rigorous and honest in our research
- Listening with open minds
- Committed to each other

This professional-level, hands-on individual contributor role will directly support Beam’s mission of developing precision genetic medicines by advancing research in disease-target validation using cutting-edge gene-editing technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, execute, and analyze gene-editing experiments across diverse mammalian and primary cell types.
- Develop and maintain cell-based assay systems.
- Apply specialized knowledge in off-target toxicology assessment for regulatory-enabling studies.
- Contribute to regulatory submissions (e.g., IND/CTA) and support development of next-generation gene- and cell-therapy products.
- Apply advanced understanding of cellular processes and techniques including ELISA, qPCR, Western blotting, and CRISPR/Cas9-based methods.
- Collaborate across multidisciplinary teams to optimize gene-editing strategies and enhance scientific understanding of therapeutic mechanisms.
- Maintain detailed laboratory notebooks adhering to established research protocols and compliance standards.

Experience: Three years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in all of the following areas:
- Performing mammalian cell culture, including quality control assessments.
- Cloning and selecting engineered cell lines.
- Designing and documenting IND-enabling experiments in support of regulatory submissions.
- Conducting scientific data analysis and visualization.
- Developing or modifying research protocols.
- Maintaining laboratory notebooks according to established research protocols.
- Gene editing of multiple cell lines using CRISPR/Cas9, TALENs, or zinc finger nucleases (ZFNs).
- Applying molecular and cellular biology techniques using at least one of the following: ELISA, PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR, Sanger sequencing, next-generation sequencing (NGS), or Western blotting.
